As Edmund Burke said:

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

After the first shock, the first indignation, things settle. White people go back to a life of privilege, minorities suffer. The former forget the outrage, the latter live with it every day.

It's part cognitive overload and part cognitive dissonance. We're far from civilised, unfortunately...
