I still remember the day the UK voted "Leave" in June 2016, thinking to myself how moronic even having a referendum on such a momentous issue was. The ties between the "Leave" camp, Russian financing and online psyops, and Cambridge Analytica are all too clear: Brexit, much like Trump, was a destabilisation campaign and it worked like a charm.

The UK economy will probably never recover from this.

I fear for Ireland the most, however. The country's peace is recent and fragile.

In the end, Cameron gambled, but he didn't know he was playing with a loaded die. He lost his office, and he lost his country its place in the global concert of nations. He might even have doomed the UK...
