Jessica, all your points are valid and I wholeheartedly agree with you that we need to change our consumption habits and behaviours if we are to save our planet.

Nothing will happen, however, until governments enact regulations that put the burden of environmental responsibility on multi-national companies.

Too often, we guilt-trip the consumer when the real culprit is the producer.

Why not levy an excise tax on plastic products like Coke bottles? Why not restrict the use of non-recyclable materials? Why not force renewable energy production by state mandate and incentives.

We're told the change must come from the bottom up, but regulation could make it happen in a day if we tackled it from the top down.
