This was a coup, a failed attempt for sure, but a coup nonetheless. Capitol Police were understaffed and under-armed. The deployment of the National Guard was delayed. Some of the terrorists had Molotov cocktails, bombs, and zip ties. This wasn’t a spontaneous protest, it was an orchestrated attack on American soil perpetrated by terrorists, members of white nationalist, racist, neo-nazi movements.
